Street Style : Mahoshadi Peiris 

Mahoshadi has a style persona that speaks of stories and adventure.  She likes to describe her style as ‘causal but elegant and sophisticated’ but we think that it has a bit of edge as well! 

So this week, Mahoshadi gives us a little peek as to how she would style herself up for all occasions. 

LOOK 1 : 21 Jumpsuit 

Jumpsuits are pretty underrated but regardless, I love it and it can be styled effortlessly. I opted for a plain white crop top but pretty much anything along the lines of a subtle colour palette would go and I paired it with a show stopping shoe (metallics are currently in) to complete the look. This outfit is perfect for a day out. 

LOOK 2 : Casual Chic 

White jeans and converse pretty much screams ‘casual’. Pair it off with a crop top or even a knotted shirt and a really good pair of shades and complete it off with a body chain or any light jewellery just to get a whole lightened up look. 

LOOK 3 : Cheeky Night Out 

It’s either a choice between baring your leg or some cleavage (or both). You’ve got to always give people a run for their money! 

LOOK 4 : Boho Chic 

This is a mix between Coachella and indie but bindis, nose rings and chunky gold jewellery don’t disappoint! Always pair boho outfits with gladiators or any tie up sandals. Heels (or shoes) don’t make the cut. 

LOOK 5 : Pop Of Colour 

I don’t own a lot of colour, mostly because I fear it doesn’t compliment my skin. Nevertheless it’s an essential, you don’t want to bore anyone with your monotonous colour palette so instead keep it on edge but don’t overdo it by colour blocking. 

Style Role Model: Well, my style influences depends on the mood I’m in. I’d channel either Kendall Jenner, Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively or one of my other 100 influences with a little bit of my own personal twist of course. 

Favourite Colours to Pair: Nudes and whites. 

Go To Outfit: Ripped or acid washed jeans paired with any white or grey top and white Converse. 

Style Must Have’s? 

- Ripped jeans 

- Grey joggings 

- White Converse / Adidas Superstars 

- Structured white top 

Make-up Tips: Strobing!! Highlight your face with no shame and look like a cute glazed donut! It makes you look good on your selfies and lightens up your face, literally. I personally use the highlighters found in the Ultra contour palette from Makeup Revolution (which is quite affordable) or even Elf highlighters. 

Style No’s: Nothing in particular, it depends on each individual, their style and what they feel comfortable in. I personally avoid wearing baggy shirts or tops with flared bottoms unless I’m in the comfort of my home. However anyone can pull off any look simply by accessorizing it appropriately, so the whole outfit comes together instead of overdoing it. 

Style Tips: 

- Stay true to yourself! Know what clothes compliments your body, makes you look and feel good. 

- Be adventurous with your hair and makeup, go for messy buns, braids, high pony tails, contour (or non-touring) or strobing, to make your outfit stand out. 

- Personally, I think accessories (whether it’s a really fancy handbag or statement necklace), is the icing on the cake, but remember less is more.
