Keeping it classy is what this brand I feature is all about. Dive in and explore their selection of men's T-shirts. From boxy skater-style tees to eye-catching pattern mix, today's designer has got them all, even his personal style is simply fascinating
I spoke to Farzan Sheriff from Manic Phase to know more about him and his brand.
What sparked your interest in fashion?
I basically just like anything beautiful or well designed. Fashion always had an appeal for me, from flipping through magazines to sketching my own designs. It's also deeper than that. It always felt good to know what I was wearing looked good and someone told me so, it gave me confidence. Confidence is key.I eventually began to research designers and photographers, started following Brands, became inspired by the beautiful ads and shows.
Fashion is beauty - it’s art and impacts society in a way that no other cultural element does, for better or for worse. I really hate it when people say fashion is unimportant, I mean it's what we wear on our backs, isn't it, so it does affect each and every one of us. I just find that so intriguing.
Tell me about your collection which you have featured in this shoot?
My collection is T DROP
I want to project a difference in what I do and think out of the box. My designs are not standard or ordinary even pattern wise. I don’t want to look normal, normal is boring. My tees are long and I have a concept called body and neck culture. I play with the neck and body designs, and patterns on my tees. It’s more like highstreet wear, you can easily blend with any situation or mix and match. I also introduced lace and embroidery on tees. I named them 'lace for gentlemen' and 'embroidery gentlemen'.
Tell me about your brand name and the inspiration for the name?
It’s Manic Phase. I never think of it as a disorder (lol), it’s an experience of feelings of heightened energy, creativity and you feel you're all-powerful or destined for greatness.
As a brand how many pieces do you put out in every collection? Do you also custom make?
I have four sizes in a collection. Each size it’s only 4 to 6 pieces.I do undertake custom orders.
Which retail outlets carry your brand?
Ramp, Beverly Street, Kathyushya by Kathyusha
How would you describe your personal style?
Sense is louder than brands and I got my own one which makes me look delicious.
What is the process of creating and marketing your design?
I am inspired by black and white colors, minimal prints and lace and embroidery. I transform them into patterns and patterns leads me to my design. Most of my designs are inspired by my own thoughts.
Who do you envision wearing your work? Do you think about this when you work on designs?
Yes, I do I have a target market I basically focus on people who are fashion conscious and people who bold enough to wear what they like. I do think about it too much. There are many negative comments also but I take them as a motivation.
Are you self-taught or did you study fashion design?
I did study fashion but couldn’t complete. I never fully believed in paper-qualifications. I’ve trusted my inner guts and here I am.
