This week, Fashionably, Danu takes an interesting turn and we feature an Indian look on the newspaper, which is always a blast of colours. Many have written to me asking for a different feature, and KAMSINS is the place you want to visit when it comes to picking some stylish outfits for all the fancy outings, and I’m a big fan of these outfits as it not only looks great, it also covers all the faults.

Today I speak about the new looks for the year, and how a traditional outfit has evolved with time to keep up with the new trends.

What sparked your interest in fashion, and the concept of ready to wear?

It’s the passion in me towards fashion and the vacuum for quality men's ready to wear in the market which pushed me to form Kamsins The Designer Collection. As we men always go around  in search of clothes for occasions at the last moment  and we really don't know where start and where to end, Kamsins was the first choice for that moment.

As you choose collections which are one of a kind, how long does the process take?

Choosing one of a kind collections for the store is a continuous process, throughout the year. New styles and colours mainly depend on the season. We have young designers working throughout the year feeding us the latest trends from Mumbai, the fashion hub.

What do you feel about the Indian fashionwear market in Sri Lanka?

Casual and daily wear clothes you can get it locally made or from many other countries. When it comes to occasions and events it’s the Indian clothes which stands out with its own identity. Sri Lankans love the rich and colourful fabrics with crafty workmanship and fine detailing. In terms of variety and choice, Indian clothes have plenty to offer from time to time.

Do you feel that your customers like to take risks in choosing what they wear?

No, not at all. Especially men, as they are very precise and specific in what they want. Elite clientele of Kamsins have a fair knowledge of current trends and are quite smart in their choices as well.

What is it that you featured in this shoot? And why did you pick these pieces?

The selected Kamsins outfits are to showcase our variety of Eastern wear. Each outfit shows its elegance and flair in different lengths and style with matching  pants.

As Indian outfits are now a global trend, what look is in fashion now?

Slim fits and semi length outfits with dhothi or stylish pants are very much in at the moment, and youngsters mainly go for this look. And if you want to be daring, a woven fabric jacket or a jewel on the gives it a trendy look. Fancy coloured and heavy detailed outfits are also a choice if you really want to stand out.

Speaking to the man with the creative eye, Arantha had this to say...

What are your thoughts on Indian fashion?

Indian fashion is more relatable to Sri Lanka as their culture is so much in par with ours. Certain attire which they have are more relatable and looks more glamorous on Sri Lankan men. We managed to capture some of these garments on our shoot this time.

Would you say it's outdated today?

It is not outdated at all as the trends have been developed to suite the modern day fashion. Even the European fashion market now brings out Indian fashion on the catwalk.

What are your thoughts on the shoot this week?

This week, we showcased some elegant kurthas for men, which can be worn for any formal event, and makes it an easy pick for any man.

Your thoughts on the collection?

I feel the garments which Kamsins showcased needs to be made in some type of fabric which can be worn in a humid climate like in Sri Lanka. But I do really like the working they have on the kurtha garments.
