The Style Files : The Best Dressed List - August

Every month I do a roundup of events that played host to some of the most sartorially savvy, polished, eclectic, and stylish of dressers. In August these people impressed with their style, their poise, their ability to pull a unique look together and were the most soigne of the soigne for the month.

Launch of Zudhora

Helga

Unique, inspired, cool, original. Helga dresses in her own flamboyant manner and has seized the imagination as an example to a free-spirited, adventurous mindset that, these days, seems in danger of getting lost beneath the anodyne beauty of a Colombo aesthetic that worships straightened locks and perfect make-up above individuality or creativity.

Insanely easy to wear, jumpsuits are great as you don't need to worry about matching your top to your bottom. This look is great because it's a statement all on its own (no cool accessories required). This outfit has a great mix of masculine and feminine elements and we are all for outfits that require little effort and this is it. The bang on trend  masculine brogues elevate her look to best dressed. Kudos!

Nithiesha

This look is elegant and polished and that’s why I love it. An interesting take on the LBD. The batik gives the dress dimension, while the hemline and it being sleeveless shows just the right amount of skin. Her pumps, YSL clutch and fresh make up complete the look. Keep doing what you're doing, Nithiesha!

Ruth

She’s wearing a perfect dress to transition into A/W15 look. The burgundy paired with metallic colour scheme is a nod to the season ahead, but the silhouette of her dress still gives the look a very summer vibe.

Wista Sri Lanka

Rosy

This is a difficult colour to pull off but Rosy does it beautifully. The simplicity of her styling allows the colour to really shine while maintaining her signature elegance.

Queen's birthday banquet

This sari is really something special, with all the intricate lace and sheer detailing of the blouse, the thread work on the body of the sari in beautiful antique gold on black. Though there is a lot going on, simple styling and accessories like her Bottega knot clutch helps to ensure her overall look isn't too busy.

Studio 54 at Silk

This month, my best dressed list has been overrun with jumpsuits. Even though the event at Silk was 70‘s dress up, I think these ladies would look fab in these jumpsuits anywhere.

Catherine

If anyone knows how to rock one of the biggest trends of the season (the 70‘s) it’s Catherine. The high neckline really balances out the low back, the colour and fit are pure perfection, as are her nude wedges and headscarf. Take note, this is how you channel the 70’s.

Desiree

Everything works harmoniously in this outfit and Desiree looks fabulous. The strapless with a v neckline is contrasted nicely by the loose-fitting trousers and the slightly masculine feel of the pinstripes in the jumpsuit.

Sasha

Sometimes less is more as is the case with Sasha’s pretty pink playsuit. The fit is wonderful, the colour really pops against her tanned skin and the 70’s vibe which is so on trend works beautifully on her.
