The Startup Cook - Nutella Cookies

Nutella is perhaps the best food invention of the 21st century. A smooth and decadent chocolate paste which melts in your mouth is Nectar to us mortals. Spread it on a slice of bread, have it with strawberries or just eat it off a spoon, either way each taste reminds why life is sometimes so good.

If you think Nutella can’t get any better, well these cookies will definitely prove you wrong. Based on Laura Vitale’s Nutella Cookies these biscuits are sensational. Slightly crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, like the spread itself, every bite melts in your mouth.

Who needs Nectar and Ambrosia when you have these divine discs?

Ingredients

2 cups of all-purpose flour
½ cup of brown sugar
½ cup of white sugar
8 tbs of butter
12 – 14 tbs of Nutella
1 Tbsp of cocoa powder
1 1/2 tsp of vanilla essence
1 tsp of bicarbonate of soda
2 Eggs

Directions

Preheat oven to 190 Celsius.

Prepare a few baking sheets with baking parchment and set aside.

Mix the flour, cocoa powder and the bicarbonate of soda in bowl and set aside.

In a heavy based bowl, using an electric mixer, whisk both the types of sugar and butter.

Add the eggs, Nutella, vanilla essence and whisk until it’s well incorporated.

Next, fold in the dry ingredients with Nutella mixture.

Whisk until the dough has formed.

After the dough has formed, using an ice cream scoop and scoop out a portion of dough on the prepared sheets.

Ensure to keep adequate space between each dough scoop.

Bake for 10 – 15 minutes.

Disasters, Warnings and Tips

Remember to rotate your baking sheet in between the baking duration.

Have this with a glass of Milk! YUM!!!!!

The cookies will puff while baking and that’s fine, because it flattens while cooling.

You know… once (a few years ago) I ate the massive jar of Nutella in 3 day. A week later I couldn’t fit in to my pants.

Use a small sized ice cream scoop, I used a regular sized one and cookies came out in the size of dvds. I didn’t mind of course.

Both father (Mr. Hamid) and the brat brigade down the lane loved these cookies.

If you’re feeling a little fancy, spoon some Nutella over the cookies before devouring them.

With a small ice cream scoop, you can make around 18 cookies with these ingredients, but with a regular size one you can make 12 scrumptious dvds, like I did.

Bicarbonate of soda is available in supermarkets.
