Let’s be honest, Jacqueline Fernandez got more jeers than cheers when she began dating director Sajid Khan during the making of Housefull 2. Yes, they were an odd pair, but no one gave them a chance.
Or took their relationship seriously. When they began dating, he was a successful director and she was a budding actress so their coming together was seen as an ambitious move on part of her. Pessimists declared that their affair would end as soon as the shooting gets over. But the Jackie-Sajid love story survived. Despite the fact that he didn’t cast her in his next film Himmatwala.
Meanwhile, she has warmed herself to his mother, and sister Farah Khan. Sajid is going through a low phase following the rejection of his film by the audiences.
He has drawn a lot of flak for the film’s collections because he had predicted crossing the Rs 200-crore mark that he had set with his last film. He is at the receiving end of jokes and jibes, which has send the director into hiding. He hasn’t made a public appearance since the film’s verdict was out. Apart from his family, the only person who is standing by his side like a rock is girlfriend Jackie.
Sajid has never faced failure as a filmmaker before and this one came as a rude shock, as he had full faith in his film.
Says an insider, “In such a difficult time when Sajid is facing brickbats, Jackie has been a pillar of strength, taking his bad moods and brooding silence in her stride. Not only is she spending all her time with him, she is being a constant source of support and encouragement. Even when she is out for her shooting and work commitments, Jackie is constantly in touch with him.
While her detractors write off her as a manipulating schemer who was only dating the director for getting lead part in his films, she has proved them all wrong. Sajid’s family is very happy at the way Jackie is taking care of him.” Every dark cloud has a silver lining and Himmatwala has turned out to be one, bringing them closer to each other.
