BMICH presents ‘The De Lanerolle Brothers : Keeping It Real'

The De Lanerolle brothers, Roshan and Ishan, are back again this year with the concert of a lifetime and you wouldn’t want to miss it. Partnering up with BMICH, the brothers present ‘Keeping it Real’ – their first ever live instrumental concert in Sri Lanka.

For over 42 years, BMICH has been a national icon and one of the finest International centres for exhibitions and conventions in South Asia. Breaking away from being just a reputed exhibition centre, Director - Sunil Dissanayake, hopes to introduce BMICH as a hosting venue for premium end concerts. With such a vision in mind, he invited the De Lanerolle Brothers to hold this concert to promote the idea.

In our interview with the De Lanerolle’s, they explained the story behind their concert tittle ‘Keeping it Real’.

“All these years we have been using back up tracks when we go live. It took us a long time to do a concert like this because we wanted to find the correct people. We didn’t want to take any short cuts. Now we found the right people and we are keeping it real by performing with a live band,” says Rohan.

The live band consisting of guitar, percussion, violins, timpani, brass strings and drums would be performing from start to finish of the whole 90 minute concert. “This is the West End brought to the BMICH,” laughs Ishan. When asked what to expect from the show the brothers promised a relaxing evening of music and entertainment. “A little bit of rock and roll, a little Elvis Presley. Maybe a few popular songs like ‘Crazy Little Thing Called Love’ and some Olivia Newton John numbers”. They would also be doing a tribute in honour of the Workshop Players upcoming theatre production ‘Les Miserablés’.

Always aware of the audience’s needs, this concert will also feature a live feed of the performances on a digital flat screen to provide the balcony audience with better visuals. For the brothers, their concerts are all about making the people a part of the show. What makes the evening all the more special is the fact that they would be launching their CD “The Journey” which is a memoir of their passage through the last 6 years. The album will feature some crowd favourites and song covers they’ve performed a countless times.

“We are very excited.” states Ishan, “Things are just falling into place and it’s such a pleasure working with the BMICH. Professionals like Sunil make everything better because they know exactly what needs to be done!”

Tickets for the show to be held on the 14th of September at BMICH are already being snatched up. With most downstairs seats sold out, a few Rs. 1000 tickets are still available for purchase. Hotline agents for ticket reservations and delivery are available for contact on 0777 - 996 991
