Giovanni’s dishes out the best thin crust Italian pizzas in the city. With the freshest of ingredients and the most scrumptious of toppings, you really can’t go wrong with any pizza you pick off the menu. We sampled their newest range. 

Taste and value for money – * * * * * *  

The Pollo Cacciatore (Rs 1,500) as the name suggests, is a chicken-based pizza. The chicken is braised in a mouthwatering, lip smacking, tomato sauce which creates a marriage of stunning flavours in your mouth. The mozzarella is baked instead of the usual fresh chunks on top, taking  this pizza to a whole new level of awesomeness.

The Spicy Chicken (Rs 1,400) pizza with its generous helping of chilli flakes, fresh mozzarella, olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, capsicum, onions and fresh basil leaves is also a fabulous addition to the pizzas at Giovanni’s.

A simple lamb sausage pizza with baked mozzarella, topped with red bell peppers and fresh basil, the Monzese (Rs 1,500) is also such a simple treat. The lamb sausage is slightly spicy which gives it a perfect balance of flavours along with the otherwise soft and subtle flavour of the mozzarella and fresh peppery bite of the basil leaves.

If you love your meat like I do, then a must-try is the All Meat (Rs 1,700). It is heaven for meat lovers with generous portions of ham, bacon and salami complimented with loads of chilli flakes, capers, green chilli and bell peppers.

Ambience – * * * * * 

The pizzeria is a simple setting with small tables and chairs overlooking the street. The cute flower pots by the window make it a relaxed setting to enjoy these delicious pizzas.

Hours of operation : They open at 6.30pm every day. From Monday to Wednesday they bake between 50 to 60 pizzas and from Thursday to Sunday they target 100 pizzas and then close shop. So get there on time.
