Chulakshi crowned Siyatha Lux Miss World Sri Lanka 2014
The grand final of the Siyatha Lux Miss World Sri Lanka 2014 was held yesterday at the grand ballroom of The Hilton Colombo. The competitors were judged by fashion mogul Lou Ching Wong, former Miss Sri Lanka Nushara Attapattu, General Manager of The Colombo Hilton Manesh Fernando, The Ambassador of Thailand Nopporn Adchariyavanich, and Singaporean Fashionista Nizreena Hidaya.
Having been through a gruelling training process Chulakshi Ranatunga was chosen as this year's title holder; it was quite evident that from the moment the pageant started she had an edge over all the other competitors. The quiet and unassuming girl was at a loss for words when spoken to after her crowning but said she plans to do her best and make Sri Lanka proud. Chulakshi was also able to secure The Miss Personality and Eastern wear mini titles.
The titles of 1st and 2nd runners up went to Ashwini Peiris and Anita Papali respectively.
The following mini titles were awarded to some of the other contestants
Face of the Year: Ashwini Peiris
Most Beatuful Hair: Jayakalanmi Harkushi
Glowing Skin: Shalika Erangani
Dances of Sri Lanka: Onella Shani
Miss Talent: Dishney Rajapakse / Miss Sports and Fitness: Dishney Rajapakse
Some of the judges gave us their comments after the show
Lou Ching Wong: It was a good show and it was also exciting to judge and the girls stepped up their game compared to what we saw the previous night.
Nushara Atapattu: Judging has always been tough but in the midst of that you always are able to pick out someone who stands out. I thought the winner was extremely deserving.
Manesh Fernando: It was exciting to judge and I think we made the right choice since all 5 of us think in very different angles and when all those elements come together you get a really good product.
