The Style Files : The Best Dressed List - September
Every month we do a roundup of events that played host to some of the most sartorially savvy, polished, eclectic, and stylish of dressers. In September these people impressed with their style, their poise, their ability to pull a unique look together and were the most soigne of the soigne for the month.
The Lux Collection Event by Unilever
Sandun looks good suited and booted or casual – either way he has a relaxed style. Nothing looks too forced and his ingrained sense of great style always shines.
Kristy - The wide belt, cinched in the waist, asymmetrical hemmed dress with white pointed toe stilettos and metallic clutch deserves an A+ for it’s simple with a slight edge aesthetic.
Ramani - She has an inherent sense of what looks good on her and this KT Brown outfit is no exception. The colour is perfect, draping fluid and the minimal accessories allow her fabulous, ‘Classic Y Clutch’ to add an interesting pop of colour.
A Dream within a Dream Exhibition
Puneesha Pasqual
Orange is a tricky colour to wear, as you need to find the right shade and the right silhouette to have success. The vivid orange works beautifully against her complexion as do the embellishments, while the flowy skirt makes it look like she's floating. The tousled hair and natural make up elevate the look, giving it an effortless vibe.
The International Film Festival Dinner by Hameedias
Fouzul - Elegant and traditional he represents a perfect mix between indisputable old world British tailoring and impeccable Italian style.
Umali - The deep blood red almost verging on claret is bang on trend for the season. This dress is extremely figure-flattering, fashionable and Umali hits all the right notes in it and her red lipstick seals the deal.
Anarkalli - To be completely honest, this Valentino-esque outfit would not work on everyone but Anarkali manages to pull it off and looks great. Reminiscent of one Paris Hilton wore and more recently Emma Watson to the BAFTA’s (both Valentino) it’s the perfect look for a young starlet.
A Celebration of Women - Exhibition by Iromie Wijeywardenene
Yasmin - The nipped-in waist, pretty hue, cowled front top and the gorgeous batik skirt work beautifully in making this outfit a true delight. Kudos Yasmin!
Upeka - I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again, you can’t go wrong with the blue jeans and white top combo. It’s a classic look that will always be in style and Upeka wears it incredibly well.
Craft Alive - CFW
Ashwinie - Her cute, age-appropriate geometrical print dress is so fun and the Mao collar and strappy heels make it stylish.
Anitra - Her platinum blonde pixie cut, tribal print shirt dress and stacks of wooden bangles hit the perfect note at the Craft Alive fashion show. It takes a true fashionista to pull of a look like this and Anitra has the chops. She always stands out from the crowd.
Priyanthi - The LWD (Little White Dress) is rapidly gaining ground on the LBD and Priyanthi’s take on it with tousled hair, minimal make up and two toned block heel caps is casual meets fashion forward.
The Porsche Mcaan Launch
Alexandria - I’m not sure if I love the colour of Alexandria’s dress or the silhouette more. It played up her great figure and the addition of the toe capped points, simple hair and accessory free, really allowed the dress to speak for itself.
Another invitee - Cool, edgy, interesting. This whole monotone look works incredibly well. A+
Brillianz
The colour of this bandage dress is spot on, Giorgio Armani sent this particular shade of lime down his AW 14 catwalk on everything from clothes to accessories. The monochrome clutch pairs beautifully, while the colourful shoes give it a touch of irreverence.
The Masquerade Ball
Linda
The colours in this sari are fabulous, they really pop and accessorised by only a gold cuff pulls this simple yet chic look together.
Cinnamon Hotels and Resorts presents Wave
Being a trendsetter is hard work since it involves taking risks that don't always pay off, thankfully this ensemble did. It’s an ideal mix of style, sexiness and elegance. The forest green is bang on trend and, the less racy than Kim’s, black bodysuit ties the look together nicely.
AOD - Undergrad Design Show
Karen - This dress is chic and flattering and the zip detail on the side make it fashion-forward and modern. I also love Karen's heels!
Sabrina - Her look is fun and flirty and suits her perfectly. Keeping her hair and makeup simple works harmoniously with the print on her dress and I’m happy that she skipped bold accessories as her look doesn’t need them.
