The Style Files : The Best Dressed List - July

Every month I do a roundup of events that played host to some of the most sartorially savvy, polished, eclectic, and stylish of dressers. In July these people impressed with their style, their poise, their ability to pull a unique look together and were the most soigne of the soigne for the month.

French National Day

Niro
Niro always looks immaculately turned out and is a loyal supporter of great style. The cut and colour of his suit are perfect and he’s the perfect ambassador for sartorially savvy Sri Lankans.

Catherine
Of course Catherine looks good in anything, but this Little Navy Dress  from her Touche collection is especially great. The off-the-shoulder silhouette is very on-trend, as are the simple black pumps -- making this a cool take on a classic look. I also love her oversize clutch that adds just the right amount of visual interest.

Jean Charles
He’s got edge and knows that it's the details that really pull a look together (like his Hermes belt). He looks smart while staying true to his personal sense of style.

Julien
A white linen suit, what could be more perfect for the tropical climes? It’s a look that not many can carry off but Julien does perfectly. He looks charming elegant and on trend appropriate.

Be Very Special, Tony Montana at 41 Sugar

Valentino’s AW15 collection really showcased the stripe in all its glory. I love her take on it especially as even though there is a lot going on visually, her updo and simple styling helps to ensure the overall look isn't too busy.

I love how she’s working two trends into one look. The side pony is all the rage with celebs like Cara Delevingne championing it and design houses like Prada and Dior showcasing it in on their runways. Marry that with the cut out trend and you have an absolute winner. The cut out on the traditional peplum has elevated her look from great  to fashion forward.

Japanese Fair at Waters Edge

The hottest trouser for S/S 15 is the  cropped culotte. It’s not the easiest look to pull off and I love the simplicity of pairing them with a simple white tee. It lends a modern take to the ensemble while  the feminine pleat work provides much needed texture and a girlish touch. Victoria Beckham is a proponent of the cropped Cullote adding it into her collections from A/W13 to A/W15. She’s also often seen sporting the look herself.

Hers is a look that can easily translate from day to night just by whipping her sunglasses off. Her Tory Burch flats are both practical and beautiful and her Gucci Soho leather tote is a classic that works well paired with anything.

He’s perfectly attired for an afternoon in the sun, I like his ability to mix street wear with a a hint of classic, with his panama hat. Nicely done!

Launch of Radisi

Rebecca
This is how you dress up a pair of jeans. Rebeccas take on the timeless white shirt and jeans ensemble is both pretty and bang on trend. The Lace inserts on her top give a direct nod the 70’s trend, one that shows no sign of abating. Its Boho chic vibe has been seen on all the best catwalks including Chole, Valentino, Isabel Marant and Louis Vuitton.

Finale of Venture Engine

Anarkali
Simple, elegant and modern seems to be a fashion ethos that Anarkali embodies, this look being no exception. The on trend pairing of navy and black, simple silhouette and classic Saint Laurent clutch are wonderfully fabulous.

Firi Rahman at the Saskia Fernando Gallery

Saskia
It's clean, fresh and modern in its minimalism. The length showcases her toned legs, her shoes are interesting and add personality to a great look.

Firi
His take on modern preppy is interesting and I especially love the nod to creativity with his pop of colour with bright blue loafers.
