Christmas and New Year’s Eve are the two of the much awaited days of the year. As 2016 is drawing to an end we know that you are looking for events to drop in to and enjoy with your loved ones. Featured today are some of the Christmas events which will be held this weekend and NYE events which are yet to happen on 31st night. 

Christmas Events This Week 

Following are some of the Christmas events which you could visit this weekend. 

Family Christmas Festival of Music and Carols 

Join the Symphony Ochestra of Sri Lanka as they usher in the ‘season to be jolly’ with a Christmas Concert. Conducted by Eshantha Peiris, this year’s concert features The Old Joes Choir and Contempo together with the SOSL.

The Kingdom of Elves 

This year Santa’s workshop is taking a break and the Kingdom of the Elves have planned the largest kiddies Christmas Party in Colombo. The Elves are inviting all the little boys and girls for a day filled with fun and Games. Santa will be their special guest for the day! - All kids are asked to dress like elves to enter the party!

Home for Christmas - Embark Adoption Day Colombo 

Choosing to adopt gives many homeless dogs a chance they otherwise may not receive, and in return you will also be rewarded by the kind of love and gratitude that’s only given by a rescued animal. Adopting a rescued pup can be the best decision you will ever make!

Joy to the World 

A fundraiser for poverty alleviation projects jointly organized by the Archdiocese of Colombo and St.Joseph Vaz Trust. Featuring performances by Billy Fernando, De Lanerolle Brothers, Natasha Ratnayake, Soul Sounds, Voice Print and many more.

Mr.Claus with Superheroes 

Mr.Claus comes together with all the superheroes. Where kids will enjoy the day receiving goodie bags from Santa and where they get to enjoy the day with amazing fun events! This event will also be sponsoring kids who are in need to support them and make them a memorable Christmas together with everyone and also in awareness for cancer and donations.

La Christmas Beach Bazaar 

The shopping bazaar joining members from the community will include clothes, accessories, toys, homeware and many more.

New Years’ Eve Events 

New Year’s Eve is a much anticipated time of the year where you would probably like to celebrate 31st night with your friends or family. Following are a few events which will be happening in Colombo and if you are interested you could grab your tickets soon! 

Sugar @ The Terrace, Mount Lavinia Hotel 

Sugar, a band formerly known as Chill Out led by dynamic Sajee Lamahewa, will be in action on this New Year ’s Eve at “The Terrace” in Mount Lavinia Hotel. Having made their presence overseas for the past eight years, Sugar is now ready to entertain its fans with a touch of jazz, funk and soul melodies apart from their pop and rock repertoire.

Platinum and Beatlemania @ Cinnamon Grand Colombo 

For the first time in Sri Lanka, two internationally acclaimed UK based bands, PLATINUM - The Live Abba Tribute Show and Beatlemania - The Ultimate Beatles Concert Experience, will perform to recreate the music of ABBA and Beatles from the 70s era. 

With a gala dinner, performances by PLATINUM and Beatlemania followed by a DJ from London to bring the 70s musical era to action, this New Year’s Eve Cinnamon Grand Colombo is the place to be.
