Looking for a place to hang out this weekend? We have got some exciting events and places lined up for you to make your weekend more exciting. 

Shamrock Club Lounge 

Shamrock is an Irish pub which has been in existence for a while. They function as a part club and part lounge and are known for their excellent cocktails. The food ranges from kottu to wraps and other dishes. The lounge offers a cosy seating area for those who would like to hang out with friends and therefore it stands out as an ideal place for you to visit during your weekend. 

Park Street Mews 

Located in close proximity to the Gangaramaya temple, Park Street Mews includes a range of restaurants for one to choose from. It also stands out as a super chill out place for people to visit, dine in and spend time. 

Cloud Café 

The rooftop bar at Colombo Courtyard serves an array of finger food ranging from pizza to Panini sandwiches. It also has super live music on Friday evenings while on other days, classic movies take the screen. Cloud Cafe is a great place for a weekend chill out with family or friends. 


Movies 

Inferno 

“Inferno” is the third Dan Brown film, after The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons. It is a 2016 American mystery thriller film directed by Ron Howard and written by David Koepp, based on the 2013 novel of the same name by Dan Brown. The film is the sequel to The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons, and stars Tom Hanks, reprising his role as Robert Langdon, alongside Felicity Jones, Omar Sy, Sidse Babett Knudsen, Ben Foster and Irrfan Khan. 

The story revolves around the character Robert Langdon (Tom Hanks) who wakes up in an Italian hospital with amnesia and teaming up with Dr. Sienna Brooks (Felicity Jones), race across Europe against the clock to foil a deadly global plot. 

This exciting mystery thriller is scheduled to be released by Majestic and Empire Cineplex on October 21st 2016. 

“Inferno” will be screened on 21st October at  Majestic Cineplex 10.15 1.15 4.15 7.15 Fri/Sat 10.15 pm and Empire Cineplex 1.30 4.30 7.30 Fri/Sat 10.30 pm Sat/Sun 10.30 am.

Prometheus – DJ party @ Shamrock Club Lounge 

A DJ party for all electronic, deep house, techno, trance and underground music lovers. The event will feature popular DJs such as Asvajit, Jayy Vibes, Van Luup, Sunara and much more. Ladies’ VIP Night @ Park Street Mews 

This Friday the Park Street Mews will be lit up with an event where all ladies will have a chance to shop till you drop.  As such the Ladies’ VIP Night will feature retailers including Jai by Aashkii, Glitterati, Mosh, Flow Vegan Express, Desert Diamonds, Vitawell and much more. The morning session will start from 10.30am onwards and the evening session will commence from 6.30pm onwards. 

Madai Tommiya Shooting Giya @ Lionel Wendt 

Indu Dharmasena’s next hilarious comedy ‘Madai Tommiya Shooting Giya’ will be staged from October 21 – 23 at the Lionel Wendt. The play revolves around a story where Tommy leaves with his mentor Andana Silva to help him out on the sets of Zara Shan’s next film. However a comedy of errors unveils from the time the crew enter Kapila’s ‘Sihinaya’ guest house. Tickets are available at the Wendt. 

Arrested Development @ CR & FC 

The American alternative hip hop group will perform this Saturday (October 22) at the CR & FC grounds from 7 pm onwards to entertain all ‘90s music lovers with some of their popular hits. Be there to witness their magic! 

Classic Movie Night @ Cloud Café 

With Halloween round the corner we know that all Halloween fans are geared up to watch movies. The Cloud Cafe too is ready to screen ‘The Omen’ a movie based on a family that faces a small issue. We won’t say the rest of the plot. You can check it out all by yourself! So drop in to the Cloud Café on October 22 at 7pm to get a spooky feeling this Halloween. Call 077 722 7211 to book in. 


Weekend Happenings (out of Colombo) 

Sri Lanka Cyber Games ’16 @ Galle 

Considered as the pinnacle of the eSports calendar, Sri Lanka Cyber Games will be held in Kandy, Colombo, Galle and Jaffna this year. From Call of Duty 4 to Dota and Mortal Kombat X, this event is aimed at improving the gaming experience presented to the community. The event commences at 9am on October 22 and ends at 9pm on October 23 and will be held at Hall de Galle, Baladaksha Mawatha, Galle. Elephant & Whale Watching Tour @ Kalutara 

This is a good opportunity for those who would like to take a break from their busy schedules and stay in sync with nature.
