WALKING PATH at Lionel Wendt on Nov. 21, 22

WALKING PATH – heralded as a milestone drama in modern Sri Lankan theatre – will go on the boards on November 21 and 22 at 3.30 pm and 7 pm.

WALKING PATH, produced by Stages Theatre Group, premiered at the Lionel Wendt Theatre in July this year to rave reviews.  It was written by Ruwanthie de Chickera and directed by Jayampathi Guruge, is a play that examines the widespread, urban beautification drive in Colombo Sri Lanka. It was created by observing the behaviour of the crowds that inhabit the city’s emerging WALKING PATHS.

WALKING PATH is a play created without the use of any words, a style which has received much critical praise. WALKING PATH is a play that was devised along the several Walking Paths of Colombo.  It is a play that tries to understand what is happening to the city and its people as a result of the emergence of the Walking Paths of Colombo city. It addresses the city’s new found interest in exercise and healthy living, it profiles the urban dwellwer’sobsession with technology and recreation.  It looks at the control and maintenance of these places created for public use.  It does all of this without the use of a single word.

Tickets are on sale at the Lionel Wendt.
