S P Balasubrahmanyam to perform in Jaffna 

Sripathi Panditaradhyula Balasubrahmanyam is a popular Indian playback singer, actor and music director who has taken the entertainment industry by storm. Speaking at a press conference held to announce this performance titled ‘Nannbenda Live in Concert’, the event organisers said that although SPB has performed in Colombo he has never performed in Jaffna. “Therefore we thought of taking this concert to Jaffna. We are expecting close to 30,000 people on the day of the event and therefore it will be an outdoor performance. We are yet to finalize the venue in Jaffna and also the performers.” 

Having won the Guinness World Record for recording the highest number of songs, SPB has sung in various Indian languages. This versatile entertainer will be performing in Jaffna this October, which would be a memorable experience for his Sri Lankan fans. 

His records include several albums of contemporary Indian music and private albums for devotional songs and movies. He has won National Film Awards across four languages as well as a Filmfare Award, five South Filmfare Awards and numerous state awards from Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. He is also a recipient of the prestigious Padmashri and Padma Bhushan civilian awards which were presented to him by the Government of Indian. 

SPB had featured pieces of music working alongside big names in the industry including Ilaiyaraaja and A R Rahman. This October, SPB will be performing with the band of Gangai Amaran and other popular singers from India.
