Classic music will join classic rock on November 25 when Classic Funtime Productions brings you Rockestra at the Vihara Mahadevi Park!
A 24-piece orchestra and the best voices in Western music come together at Rockestra, which is brought to you after a decade! The biggest ever classic rock concert in the history of Sri Lanka, Rockestra was first produced by Imran Saibo of Funtime almost a decade ago to a sellout audience at the BMICH.
Rockestra combines a 24 piece classical orchestra with a host of the most talented musicians Sri Lanka has, in a revival of a nostalgic musical journey spanning the music of Pink Floyd, Joe Cocker, Deep Purple and the rock classics of the '70s and '80s.
40 voices – the best in the country will get on stage to enthrall you with a range of nostalgic music and video graphics that are guarantee to blow your mind. The performers include, Sri Lanka's very own rock legend Chitral Somapala, guitar wizard Derick Wikramanayake who is the founding member of Wildfire, Harsha Makalande and Khrome, a 20 piece orchestra who will perform a stunning rendition of classical rock, Mirage led by former Amazing Grace star Donald Piers, a household name in Sri Lankan pop rock Geoff Fernando, Russel Fernando who returns to the stage in a one night only performance, the Crowen Prince of present day rock and the leader of Slipping Chairs Dylan Manuel, Sri Lanka's first lady of song Noeline Honter, Shane Berenger, the versatile and dynamic Kevin Almeida, and Sherry who rules in her genre, all of whom will be on stage at Rockestra.
Tickets are priced at Rs. 2000 and are available online at rockestra.shopbox.lk as of now and at Classic Funtime (9, Walukarama Road, Colombo 03) from November 10 onwards.
