Sri Lanka Tourism presents ‘Celebrate Colombo’ in partnership with Colombo Fashion Week 

Sri Lanka Tourism is working with Colombo Fashion Week to position Colombo as a city that is vibrant and creative. Celebrate Colombo is the theme of Colombo Fashion Week, as it gives the city of Colombo various reasons to celebrate through fashion and other related creative industries. This year CFW is creating experiences by combining various creative streams. While fashion remains the mainstay, this season Fashion meets Art, Films and Food, making it a week of Celebrating Colombo. The week of Colombo Fashion Week will give reasons to engage visitors and residents alike. This is a start for enhancing city tourism and this project will go from strength to strength which each season of Colombo Fashion Week.

I’m pleased to issue this message to mark the 2017 edition of Colombo Fashion Week which I believe is the 14th consecutive show to be held in Colombo. 

This event which has become an annual fixture in Sri Lanka’s events calendar has over the years metamorphosed in to a high profile tourism attraction with a global impact. 

Thanks to the vision of its founder, Colombo Fashion week is now one of the biggest events held in Sri Lanka which showcases Sri Lankan fashion and creative industries to the world. CFW has no doubt put this island paradise on the international fashion map. 

More importantly it has helped attract the attention of the international media to Sri Lanka, being the only lifestyle event shown globally which in turn has brought positive rewards for the country’s tourism industry. Its novel concepts such as the designer mentorship programs, retail presentations and Ethical Fashion Day have helped carve out a special niche for the event. 

This year’s theme “Celebrate Colombo” will help position Colombo as a vibrant city offering a diverse array of attractions for visitors. It will consolidate Sri Lanka Tourism’s event based promotion strategy focusing on bringing world class fashion and entertainment to the city of Colombo.
