Launch of Siyatha Miss World 2016 

Siyatha Miss World, a concept that opens doors for beauties from all corners of the island, is back again with its 2016 edition for the fourth consecutive time. Siyatha TV in collaboration with Model Shop presents this pageant with the support of a team of experts in various fields who would groom the contestants to evoke their true personalities. 

 

Speaking at a press conference to announce the official launch of the pageant, veteran actress Sangeetha Weeraratne said that this year the pageant will focus on the celebration of life. “Beauty is not skin deep, we want to evoke the special talents in these beauty queens as well. The pageant will be choreographed by Senaka De Silva and other professionals. Seven mini pageants will be done in Sri Lanka and we are focusing on choosing contestants from the nine provinces. Some of them include Miss Congeniality, Miss Body Beautiful, most effective on social media and many other mini titles. This time we seek the support from all our sponsors because we want to spread the message about this pageant to all corners of the island.” 

In her comments, Chulakshi Ranathunga, Siyatha Miss World 2014, said that she didn't give up when she lost the earlier Ms. Sri Lanka pageant in 2013. "Then again I applied in 2014 and that pagaent was a turning point in my life. I learned how to face life with the exposure I got after winning the title. Beauty pageants are not only about judging your outer beauty. After I won the title I started my career as an actress." 

Speaking at the event Siyatha Miss World 2015, Thilini Amarasuriya said that it was a pleasant surprise for her. "I never thought I would win the title but I had the confidence in me. Many professionals in different fields trained us through one and half months. We were well groomed and I am thankful to all those who helped me to reach this milestone.”
