views 115Footwork International Dance Organization, a pioneer in dance events in Sri Lanka, has once again stepped forward to uplift Dancesport in the country by organising a unique event on par with international standards. The competition, titled Footwork Dancesport Championships 2024 is set to take place on the 8th of September 2024 at Golden Rose, Boralesgamuwa from 10 AM -12 Midnight. Footwork Dancesport Championships 2024 will comprise 3 segments namely, Ballroom, Latin American and Street Latin.
These segments will consist of different dance types such as Waltz, Tango, Quickstep, Cha Cha, Jive, Samba, Rumba, Salsa, Bachata, and Kizomba. 180 contestants from 11 dance schools are ready to take part as they battle for 50 titles at the Championships. The event will also feature choreographed dance performances by leading dance schools and the night will round off with an entertaining dinner dance with sumptuous food and lively music. By participating in this competition, young dancers from Sri Lanka will have a unique opportunity to showcase their talent and skills at a competition that is guaranteed to be at a higher level and will feature a spectacular diversity of dance forms.
This opportunity to compete in a prestigious dancing competition and build one’s confidence and gain valuable experience is available to all participants. The dancers will also get the opportunity to learn from a world-class instructor and show dancer Luka Fanni prior to the competition. The Championship has the backing of notable commercial sector partners. Footwork has become an esteemed institution thanks to the foresight of its founder, Dharshan Wijesooriya. Dharshan has officiated in more than 150 international dance competitions in 19 different nations as a licensed adjudicator of the World Dance Council.
