Odel celebrates Christmas with that 'Fa La La' feeling

On Friday the 25th of November 2016, ODEL hosted an evening of glamour and fun as they opened their new food court and introduced it’s much awaited December collection. 

The food court, now titled ‘The Promenade - ODEL’, was declared open by Chairman of the Softlogic Group, Mr. Asok Pathirage.  What was previously a small enclosed food court, The Promenade – ODEL introduces a 16,000 square foot open – air lounge catering to all wining and dining needs of customers. 

“The Promenade ODEL is our very own wining and dining experience which complements the overall shopping experience” says Mr. Pathirage. 

The Promenade - ODEL is stunningly designed offering a relaxed ambience, spacious seating and clever lighting and hosts two a-la-carte restaurants, eight food and drink vendor outlets and a nail and foot spa by ‘FootRub’ to its name. And while a few familiar vendors still remain at the food court such as Il Gelato, Roots, Mango Tree, Chariot and Magic Corn, The Promenade ODEL also offers new dining experiences with the introduction of Mabroc (Bubble Tea), Seafood Shack and the Regent. The food court also includes 2 big restaurant names; Nihonbashi and the Sugar Bistro & Bar. 

The Promenade will also include live lounge music on Fridays and Saturdays and will be open till 11:00PM daily, even after the store is closed. 

Located in the heart of Colombo, with a variety of vendors catering to diverse tastes and cravings, be it sweet, savoury or seafood, The Promenade ODEL is bound to be one of Colombo’s famous hangout spots. 

Another highlight of the evening was the launch of ODEL’s festive collection. Themed ‘That Fa La La Feeling’, the Christmas collection draws its inspiration from Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino, Chanel and Alexander McQueen. Ranging from casual wear to evening wear, the collection incorporated a palette of burgundy, pink, red, black, silver and gold. The collection featured an assortment of designs ranging from v necks, lace work, sequins, metallic, thigh slits and velvet among many more. 

Speaking on this collection, Mr. Pathirage comments that “Christmas brings out the best in us. ODEL has always been the place to visit during the festive season, but this year we have raised the bar very much higher”. 

During the opening, ODEL also revealed its plans for the future to transform into the likes of an international shopping mall through partnership with an international company by offering more shopping space, more vendors and even a theatre complex. 

In celebrating the season, ODEL has scores of surprises in store for the shopper such as exciting activities, surprises by Santa and entertainment acts.  Adding to the excitement of shopping at ODEL this season will be two special weekend promotions for HSBC and American Express credit card holders in the month of December. 

All stores will be open for extended shopping hours from 9th  December onwards, with Alexandra Place staying open till 10pm from the 9th  to the 11th, till 11:00PM from the 16th to the 18th, till 10:00PM between the 19th and 22nd  and till 11:00PM on the 23rd and 24th of December.
