The 114th All Breed Championship Dog Show

The Ceylon Kennel Club, the premier dog club in Sri Lanka is getting ready to organise another one-of-a-kind pooch show with around 180 dogs of rare breeds. As such Great Danes, Basset Hounds etc., will showcase their talents alongside everyday favourites such as Labradors and Boxers. The main objective behind this initiative is to give a place for other breeds of dogs that are not often seen in public.

Speaking to the Daily Mirror, President of the Ceylon Kennel Club, Lucille Dahanayake mentioned that the pooches will be judged by a canine specialist from England. “In future we are going to organize a show where only country-bred dogs will be given a chance to participate. We import all good dogs and eventually they keep winning and there is no place for country-breds. The concept of dog-carnival should also be organised at provincial level and should reach places like Kandy and Jaffna. Also we are trying to introduce a mobile app that could be used to register dogs online. This way it will be easy for people to identify if they are having a pedigreed dog or not.”

Pooches of all breeds will showcase their talents at the Excel World on March 6 as they compete with one another and make themselves proud. All pooches are considered winners because they all are talented and are respected equally.
