views 1884Milkshakes make up for most of our favourite choice of beverage after a meal, or for stand-alone cold refreshment mid day! This week on V Try - U Buy we went on a hunt for the perfect milkshake, in a bid to give you our recommendations.
So what we basically looked for in a milkshake was that it was a good balance between the particular flavour and the taste of milk, and that it wasn’t too sweet or did not leave us slightly sick at the end of a full glass of it! We tried out four places that are reputed to selling milkshakes.
Of course most restaurants that serve mains are bound to have this for an option for beverage as well, so if the best you’ve tasted is in such a restaurant over one of these places, let us know where you liked your shake best.
We are aware that the Sandwich Factory has a great choc-chip variant, and the Commons serves great ones too. In our ratings this week, we basically look at value for money, variety in choice for milkshakes, and taste. Let us know what you think of our ratings.
Chocolate Milkshake Roots |
|
Taste | * * * |
Price | Rs. 170 (regular size) |
Value for money | Average |
Variety | The milkshake is available in four other variants, which are vanilla, strawberry, avocado and mango. You can choose from a regular sized cup to a mega cup. |
Overall | The chocolate milkshake, which we tried, tasted just like melted ice cream, although it did have a slightly watery aftertaste. We wouldn’t go back to Roots for this milkshake. |
Strawberry Milkshake Cup Café |
|
Taste | * * * * * |
Price | Rs. 350 |
Value for money | High |
Variety | The milkshake is available in vanilla and chocolate too. |
Overall | The milkshake was excellent. It was very milky with a distinct strawberry flavour and there was a perfect balance between the two. |
Heavenly Chocolate Coco Veranda |
|
Taste | * * * * * |
Price | Rs.590 |
Value for money | High |
Variety | The milkshakes are available in seven other variants, which are vanilla, strawberry, coffee, banana, mango, passion fruit and a banana strawberry combo. |
Overall | This milkshake was very rich because of the dark chocolate syrup, which we could tell was liberally used to make it. There is a rather rich chocolatey aftertaste and this comes best recommended for people with a big appetite or it is best shared between two people. The quality is excellent therefore, we agree that the price is fair. |
Cinnamon Nutella Shake Choco Luv |
|
Taste | * * * * |
Price | Rs.350 |
Value for money | Good |
Variety | Choco Luv serves 24 varieties of milkshake ranging from lemon, treacle, Milo, fruit shakes including the most popular varieties made with Kinder Bueno, Ferrero Rocher, Oreos and Nutella. They are priced within Rs.250-Rs.380. |
Overall | This was a very good Nutella shake although we were disappointed in the lack of cinnamon flavour. It was thick, creamy and perfectl |
Our pick: Coco Verandah
