If you enjoy the '60s, '70s, and '80s music go and buy your tickets as soon as possible for “Rukshan and Melantha in Concert” to be held on February 3rd at 7 pm at Bishop’s College Auditorium.   The two brothers will entertain you in their own style with English and Sinhala hits.   Get ready for some surprises by these two multi-talented brothers who are singers, composers, multiinstrumentalists and recording artists.  They are volunteering their time and talent to raise funds for the “Little Hearts” cardiac centre at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.

This state-of-the-art complex will be a sanctuary of hope, offering lifesaving pediatric cardiac surgeries to hundreds of children annually. Back in the 70s, Rukshan was the keyboardist of the famous band The Super Golden Chimes which won several musical awards year after year headed by the maestro in Sinhala pop music the late Mr. Clarence Wijewardena.  After leaving the Super Golden Chimes, Rukshan toured Asia and Europe and finally settled down to pursue a degree in IT in the USA. There he displayed his jazz skills by performing his own jazz concerts at the Whitney Museum Hall in New York for 5 years straight. On his return to Sri Lanka, he started his own charity concert series with his original material and continued Rukshan Perera Live in Concert for 10 years straight for deserving charities while launching his own CD and 2 live DVDs.

You can still find Rukshan performing at International Music Festivals, pop concerts, and Super Golden Chimes reunion tours around the world and in Colombo at BMICH, Nelum Pokuna, and on YouTube.  His younger brother Melantha another multi-talented musician was the keyboardist of the famous band Mirage for 2 decades and toured Europe and Dubai while launching their CD. This multi-instrumentalist, singer, and songwriter is currently the principal of the Riversheen School of Music, training young children to become musicians on Piano, Organ, Guitar, Drums and Vocals.  Melantha launched a creative musical notation system to simplify notation for guitar and has received an international patent to take it forward.

In addition to his Music School, he performs at Colombo Hilton with the band Black Jackets and is presently the President of the Moratuwa Arts Forum. Both Rukshan and Melantha are musicians par excellence, and this is their debut concert together.  Music fans are in for a treat with English songs from the Beatles, Bee Gees, Neil Diamond, Shaggy, Frank Sinatra, George Benson, Santana and many more performed by the two brothers along with famous Sinhala hits. What more? Get entertained by these two multi-talented brothers, while supporting a very deserving cause to save children’s lives at the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.
