views 212Motown played an important role in the racial integration of popular music as an African-American owned record label that achieved significant crossover success. In the 1960s, Motown and it's subsidiary labels were the most successful proponents of what came to be the Motown Sound- a style of soul music with a pop influence. Towards the end of the show, a few guests had this to say
“It was a fantastic show because I grew up with these songs. Back at home, my parents used to listen to them all the time. So it was nice to relive those memories.”
- Sharon
“I should thank DK Promotions for bringing this show down and this was one of the best shows I have been to.”
- Sudath
“It was a beautiful show.”
- Yamille
“An unforgettable experience and we really enjoyed it.”
- Ananda
“We need to look for the bright side in every dark cloud and Sri Lanka too needs to move ahead. The music was very nice and it suits our age group well. Motown is a place where all kinds of musicians came and where many of them tested their skills.”
- Frank
“The music was amazing.”
- Deanna
“Music has been my first love. I come from a musical family and although it was Eid we couldn’t just stay back at home. I enjoyed it to the fullest.”
- Careema
“The songs, the dancing and everything was fabulous. I hope Damayantha will bring many more shows to Sri Lanka and give us an opportunity to enjoy the music.”
- Shirani
“Even though we are going through a tough time we decided to come here for the music and it was worth it.”
- Solani
“It was a fantastic concert. I didn’t realise that all these songs were The Drifters hits. So many people have sung and re-sung these songs but to see they have been original Drifters songs. It was also amazing to see them performing without a break.”
- Anusha
