In June, these people impressed with their style, their poise, their ability to pull a unique look together and were the most soigne of the soigne for the month. These style mavens know how to turn heads. There’s something so indulgent and luxurious about wearing white, the most impractical of all colours. White can be ethereal, romantic, elegant, sophisticated and even in a hotbed of colour white always stands out and I was thrilled to see quite a few of the BDL wearing it so beautifully. There was no shortage of fashion hits last month and I look forward to seeing more stylish looks in August!

The Flemington Launch
The launch of luxury condominium complex The Flemington, was celebrated with a cocktail event.
Girl in white dress
The little white dress has that bright white hue really sets off against her complexion and the interestingly high neckline and demure length are perfect for a bodycon fit. I like that she’s chosen not to accessorize as it gives her ensemble the perfect amount of minimalist chic. Her simple sandals and rosy pink lipstick just seal the deal.
American Alumni Association - American Independence Day
In celebration of Independence Day in the USA, the American Alumni Association organized an all American Barbeque at the Galle Face Hotel, with great music, food and a spectacular firework display.
Girl in off shoulder top
This is how you do casual chic! Two of fashions hottest trends paired together, an off the shoulder top with culottes, are what make this outfit a total home run. I like that she’s kept style and practicality in mind with her wedges which are the perfect for outdoor events especially if you’re on grass, as nothing is worse than constantly getting your heels stuck!
Sajeira
She looks absolutely stunning in this enemble. Shoulders are the new erogenous zone and by baring her shoulders she pulled off that coveted Siren sexy-but-elegant-at-the-same-time look, that really is fashion's holy grail. She’s nailed the do’s of how to bare shoulders. Keep the rest of your outfit simple, you want your bare shoulders to take centre stage. If the top is fitted, team it with pants or a long skirt. Avoid wearing a necklace with this look as it can upset the silhouette instead let your skin do the talking.
Ronali
This dress is the perfect marriage of Ronali’s chic style sensibilities, but also mixed in with her glamorous side. It’s captivatingly elegant, and a true reflection of her personal style.
The Bonsoir Diaries
The launch of Kumar De Silva’s audio book The Bonsoir Diaries was part of the French Spring Festival and was attended by Colombo’s literati and glitterati.
Nirosha
Colour can make an ensemble and case in point with this. The eye popping cobalt blue is stunning as is the draping on her skirt. The applique on her top which colour co-ordinates with her Gucci clutch all works well to make this look fashion forward. In fashion, big risks equal big rewards!

Vaseline Summer Glow
The most fashionable event of the month, Vaseline brought together Colombo’s chic set to experience a “Summer Glow”.
Indi
This is a cute, fun, summery look and I like how her embellished shoes inject personality into this ensemble.
Ramani
Nothing says summer more than a monochromatic white outfit. Wearing white as part of one’s regular wardrobe requires commitment, dedication and vertiginous heels, if you’re wearing it long as Ramani shows us. I love how she’s injected a pop of colour in to her look with a bright orange bag that screams summer chic!
Rukshi
Her structured top and skirt are contrasted nicely by her messy locks. I also love how her outfit fits her like a glove, the colours play off each other so well and her red lipstick gives the entire ensemble a sultry edge.
Girl in strapless blue dress
This look proves that causal and chic aren’t mutually exclusive. The style and fit of her dress paired with her eye catching heels oozes sophistication and sex appeal.
(L-R) Tarja, Pooja, Sonali, Stephanie
Tarja
When you get white right especially white on white, nothing else comes even remotely close to making the same impact, or making you look uuber stylish, polished, fashion-forward and in the know as Tarja does.
Pooja
I like how she’s paired a more feminine look with bolder colours and clashed textures and prints of lace and batik to create a style that works beautifully on her.
Sonali
A great ambassador for her designs Sonali looks fabulous in her batiked skirt, which is attention-getting in all the right ways, paired with a simple white tee which grounds the look giving it a sophisticated vibe.
Stephanie
This fit and flare dress is perfect on Stephanie. It has a youthful, fun vibe and the colour is impeccable against her skin.
(L-R) Sangeetha, girl in orange skirt
Mathura Opening
Mathura an old favourite Indian vegetarian restaurant re-opened in new premises.
Sangeetha
Simple, clean and modern she’s accessorized well with a burberry shawl and great Jimmy Choo Laced up sandals that add visual interest.
A Taste of Australia
Adam De Souza, celebrity chef and owner of two of Melbournes hottest restaurants Coda and Tonka hosted “ A taste of Australia” on a recent visit at Australia house.
Girl in orange skirt
Her crisp white blouse really helps to make her bright orange skirt pop. That orange is doing everything for her, it’s making her skin glow and her hair shine. And extra points for the turquoise pendant it really helps tie the whole outfit together.
