The Movie

Yes that’s the official synopsis of the movie but if you think it has anything to do with the actual movie, it doesn’t at all, the synopsis is just packed full of references to The Andy Griffith Show which is a 1960’s American Cop show and Back to the future, coupled with some all-round Deadpool sass. Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) and Director David Leitch take the cake for the most entertaining sequel ever created in my opinion. I say this because I’m always sceptical about sequels; however, this movie took me on a roller coaster ride in terms of emotions from beginning to end. If you were to ask me what I meant by "roller coaster of emotions", I meant that from beginning to end I was laughing so loud I was sure the entire cinema was judging me and I was also crying so embarrassingly loud that everyone around me was low-key concerned.

I know some individuals were concerned when the director of the first Deadpool movie decided to leave the project citing creative differences, however let me assure you, this movie didn't disappoint at all, and I believe I can say it’s improved miles from the first movie.

The departure may have been good news in the end because Miller wanted the sequel to be a bigger budget affair. However, Ryan Reynolds wanted to keep the movie cheap and raunchy, riffling off the success of the original rather than reinventing the wheel, which in my opinion went well; I wouldn't have had it any other way.

The first Deadpool remains one of my very favourite superhero movies and the sequel retained the same humorous spirit that made the original so great. DO NOT take children below the age of 17 for the movie, because as opposed to the first one, the censorship board in Sri Lanka had been very lenient therefore the movie is uncut, and full of blood, guts and gore mixed with 4th wall breakages and adult humour that could easily make you fall off your seat.

That being said, I love the all round message of the movie where Deadpool manages to pack in even more laughs, violence and pop-culture references than the first, and at the same time, the sword-wielding mercenary assembles a mutant X-Force team to save an abused teen from unleashing his fiery powers on the world.

Also, did I forget to mention, that Celine Dion did the official track for the movie? That’s right you heard me! The French-Canadian singer is the last person you'd expect to hear in a Deadpool movie, but she made an appearance in the James Bond-style opening credits, which roll over her delightful song 'Ashes'. It’s also a known fact that Reynolds made the choice to have Celine on board despite the number of Millennial-friendly artistes put forward as suggestions (which if you’re asking me was the best thing he could ever have done).

The Movie Premiere that I attended was brought to you by TNL Radio Networks, Scope Cinemas and Skyline Entertainment & Consultancy and I must say that experience added to the all-round WOW factor of the movie!

Tips: Do not leave the theatre until you’ve witnessed the pure awesomeness that is the post credit scene! And when you think the post-credits are over, hold on to your Chimichanga’s for a little while longer and stay in your seat! Oh and always pay very close attention to the film, because you might just miss some key superhero cameos!

To conclude, The movie was amazing, and not confusing so you could easily go enjoy a few laughs and cry a bit and come back out of the theatre a happier person (God knows we all need a few good laughs in our lives). Like I said before don’t take your kids if they’re under seventeen it’s just not suitable, and never ever EVER miss the post credits scene.
